This month, as predicted, saw me working a lot and preparing for my upcoming trip to India. Great news! I’m posting this blog en route from Sydney to Bangalore. Woohoo! More on that in the next few blog posts.
Other activities I indulged in this past month included chess, pokies, trivia, childcare, and nannying. It turns out I’m not very good at chess. I downloaded an app to get better, but I’m either not on there (because I don’t want to lose) or I’m on there addictively (usually huffing and puffing as the computer player swipes my queen). Pokies have always been a hit though. No $10,000 wins yet, but Mum and I broke even in July. According to my mother’s number book, I have more luck at live animal fights (not exactly my thing). At trivia, our family team was in the top three every week. We also had a cake almost every Thursday to celebrate birthdays, people returning from travel, and me leaving for travel. And work was work. I leave a little richer than when I returned in May of this year.
Movies I watched this month include ‘The Hateful Eight’ (good to rewatch now and then, especially when people you know haven’t watched it yet), ‘Despicable Me 4’ (not as good as the first three but still very entertaining), and ‘The Greatest Showman’ (for that Zac Efron fix). With the help of my mum, I was able to breeze through both seasons of ‘Why Women Kill’ (Season 1 is the best) and ‘Candy’ (JT makes an appearance). I’m also binging Homeland and daydreaming of being an intelligence spy. I was able to read ‘Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ this month. They did a great job with the movie (besides a few changes regarding which mentors and tributes die, survive, and when and how).
Other highlights from the month include bleaching my hair bright orange, discovering the magic of a pimple patch, squashing in a movie night with Shekinah, driving Merryn to the airport, getting my Indian visa approved, finally seeing Coleman after six months, and co-hosting a Taylor Swift-themed 9th birthday sleepover party. Lastly, I thought I would include an update on my annual goals. Thanks to most of my goals being travel-specific, I have managed to tick off 18 out of 25 goals so far this year. Have a gander and see if you can help me achieve the rest.
Thanks for reading,
May xx
