I QUIT MY JOB!

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

"What? Are you safe May? Do you need a place to live? Are you sleeping in your car like all those other successful actors before they got their big break?"

Thanks guys for being so concerned. I did infact quit my day job at Kmart. I still however work on the weekend hosting parties so I'm alright for now. If you did want to help, feel free to find a boy or girl you like, bang them, have a child and book me for their party. It's the least you can do.

After being in the states for 5 weeks, I realised I liked having free time. When I say free time by the way I don't just mean lay in bed all day... my free time consists of writing. Scripts that I think are hilarious and may even one day make up for all the shifts at Kmart I've just thrown away. I came home, wasn't getting the hours I wanted and realised I'd been working there for 2 years. It was time to move on. I cannot wait!

The first thing I have to complete writing is 'Balls' a kids comedy about the handball wars in Primary School. If you don't know what I'm talking about... I'm sorry to say but you probably didn't have a very good childhood. Handball was the "it" game. All the characters are based on my primary school experience. I've even enlisted the help of the Year 7 class photos we took back then, they've come in use after all. The script follows Eddie, the new kid at school, as he struggles to make friends and to beat the reigning champion of handball, Stephanie. It's riveting. I'm on my second draft and sometimes when I re-read it I laugh out loud (god I hope that's not bragging). I also have another few hundred projects I'd like to start writing. But I'm set on completing this one first.

Hey remember when I told you I was going to tell you about the Universal auditions? Well I went and then 8 hours later when I finally got to break out 'Open your Heart' by Madonna, I left. I usually get to the end of the Japan singing rounds so it hurt like a little (a lot) but I guess that's auditioning.

And now on a sad note, I have recently been called a "green" actor. Yes I've already cut my wrist several times (I haven't. I'm safe). If I'm friendly, I'm too needy... if I'm excited, I come across as amateur. Give me a break! Of course I'm green, I haven't been in anything notable even though I work my ass off. And of course I'm friendly and excited, I'm a friendly person and I haven't been in an audition room for over a year. Sometimes this career path is stressful, this is one of those times.

This month I've also applied for the Hollywood Immersive Scholarship and have 10 days to write up a project for Impro Australia's Golden Goose Award. We'll see how that goes.

Hope you are having a wonderful Easter break and have eaten all the easter bunnies you bought for you housemates (after all they are technically yours.)

See you in the month of... ME! xx
