I'm Singing In a Band!

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

Happy Easter one and all. I hope you got given around 100 cadbury eggs for free so you didn’t have to buy any… like I did. :) Where are they now? I do not know. But I refuse to believe I ate them all.

What have I been up to this last month?

Mostly writing grants or competition submissions. I’d like to think I’m getting better at it but really I think I’m staying much the same. This month I submitted a drama short ‘RACE’ into Scream, a horror feature film ’T&C’s’ into FSS The Big Pineapple and a kids comedy pilot episode ‘GAME ON’ intoABC Me’s Program. I’ve already heard back from the feature submission but let’s hope the two shorter ones get a more positive outcome. Meanwhile, ‘ZOMBIE BRO’ is still in Post-Production music and sound. Just trucking along that one… just trucking along.

HEY! Did I tell you I’m in a Motown Band? I’m one of the lead singers in The 8-Tracksand we sing motown! The Jackson 5’s, The Supremes, The Temptations. My favourite song - River Deep, Mountain High… and lucky enough I get to sing it! Come and watch my first gig with them this month at Eggfest 2017. The whole day is jam packed full of local bands and we start our set at 7:45pm. It's free, all you have to do is register for a ticket at Eggfest2017@pfcg.com.au. In successful friend news… A few years back I was in a crime thriller short film titled ‘FRESHWATER’ and about a week ago the director, writer and producer of it, Trevor Smith, premiered his newest crime thriller short ‘EMPORIUM’ at New Farm Cinemas. It looks like a million bucks and has a great message weaving through it. Go ahead and ‘like’ the IMDb page. I am not in it but I adore the director and believe he will do great things.

And lastly, I saw Guy Sebastian in the flesh for the fourth time at his concert late March. I did not get to tick the ‘Meet Guy Sebastian’ goal on my checklist, however. I'm looking forward to one day meeting him as an equal, not some raging fan. My dream is to run into him in LA and be like “Do I know you? Oh you’re Australian? Me too! Let’s hang out” and then spend lunch subliminally quoting his song lyrics. Is that too much to ask for? I thought not. He was great, the company was great and the two older women we met gave us some really insightful information about life. Thanks Cathy and Bruno.

Aside from all that actor-y business, I’m still working through a childcare certificate, I’ve picked up work with a popular promotions agency and a After School Care Provider, I finally got my hands on photos from a formal I attended 8 years ago and I’m doing well. A lot better than where I was on my birthday last month. :) Thanks for reading my successes and failures this month. I look forward to sharing more with you in many months to come.

Till June, May. xx
